The Library Sessions: Ethan Tucker

Singer-songwriter Ethan Tucker pops in on his way to KAABOO in San Diego for the second installment of our live music series, The Library Sessions.

Whether he’s back in his native state of Washington or spending time in California writing and recording music, Ethan Tucker has made a name for himself both in the U.S. and abroad. His trademark sound of acoustic roots and layered guitars combined with an unmistakable soulful and bluesy vocal is a recipe that has garnered him attention from a number of popular musicians.

Performing and recording since the age of 16, Tucker has honed his unique blend of acoustic-roots, soul, blues and reggae, slowly building a dedicated and ever-growing audience.

After impressing kindred spirit Michael Franti at a tour stop in Sun Valley, Idaho, a new friendship and musical partnership was born on the spot. Franti invited Tucker to his San Francisco studio to write and record music. These sessions yielded the backbones of the songs “Cool Kids” and “Crazy Tonight,” the latter of which features Franti on vocals.

“I think Ethan is going to be a perennial artist for a lifetime of music. He is not somebody who you think is going to be like three years on the map and then you never hear from them again. He is going to be an artist like Ben Harper or Jack Johnson or even John Lee Hooker. An artist who plays music until they can’t play anymore,” said musician Michael Franti of Spearhead.

In 2016, Ethan appeared on “The Voice,” wowing judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton with his rootsy rendition of The Police’s “Roxanne.”

While Tucker tours this winter in support of The Aggrolites, he’ll continue working on his new album, expected to debut at the beginning of 2018. Look for him on the festival circuit next year!
